Master Electrician

The Master Electrician is a hands-on position responsible for the installation, organization, operation, maintenance and repair of all electrics required for theater productions, rentals and special events at the Douglas Morrisson Theatre.  This is a part-time position, averaging 20 hours per week.

The DMT uses contracted hourly overhire labor to fill a variety of positions -- from carpenters, painters and electricians to audio engineers, stitchers and props artisans.  Successful candidates will be self-motivated, show great attention to detail, have safe work practices, and be able to execute tasks efficiently and accurately.  Work hours are typically during the day, Monday-Friday, with occasional evening or weekend hours required.  The work schedule is determined by the needs of the production.

We are currently accepting applications from qualified individuals interested in working in the following areas:

Scenic Technician

Reports to:  Shop Foreman

Ideal candidates should have a working knowledge of technical theater and scenic construction techniques, in both wood and metal.  Experience with stage rigging, and finish carpentry is a plus.  Must be able to lift 40 lbs.

Lighting Technician

Reports to:  Master Electrician

Ideal candidates should be able to hang and focus theatrical lighting fixtures, and troubleshoot or repair electrical components when necessary.  Experience with computerized lighting consoles and dimming systems is a plus.  Must be able to lift 30 lbs.

Costume Technician

Reports to:  Costume Shop Manager

Ideal candidates should be skilled in basic machine stitching techniques and hand sewing.  The ability to understand commercial patterns and fabric distressing is a plus.
