| We are currently
developing a program to help school teachers make some of the classic stories
of all time come alive for their students. This program will include special group
pricing for a show, a tour of the theatre (including a close-up look at period
costumes and accessories), and the opportunity to discuss the play with the director
and the cast. In addition, we can provide teacher's notes and other relevant materials.
Over the past few seasons, we have presented the classic
musical The Sound of Music, which is of course based
on the real-life experiences of the Von Trapp family during
World War II, as well as The Gifts of the Magi, a musical
adaptation of two of O. Henry's beloved short stories, "The
Gifts of the Magi" and "The Cop and the Anthem."
We have also presented To Kill a Mockingbird, which
is required reading in many schools, as well as Oliver!,
the musical version of Charles Dickens' "Oliver Twist,"
and the popular American play Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.
To make things a little easier for students, we have a "Student
Rush" program, known as "5-at-5." Any tickets
that are unsold at five minutes to curtain time can be purchased
for $5.00 each by a high-school or college student with a
valid and current ID. These seats may be scattered around
the theatre, but, with our 250-seat capacity and great sight
lines, there isn't a bad seat in the house. These seats are
only available at the Box Office on the day of the show, and
only for that particular show, and the student must have his
or her own current student ID. The seats cannot be reserved
prior to the performance.
We have
also partnered with amazon.com
to provide links and easy access to books and other materials related to our productions.
By joining their Associates program, we are not only providing an additional service
to our customers, but also hope to raise a little extra income for our theatre. If
you're a teacher and would like to find out more about this new program, or have
some ideas to share, just give us a call at (510) 881-6777 and we'll be happy
to discuss it with you. |
